2009
November: Over 100 Scouts and Guides attended the Remembrance Service
at St. Peter's Church Coggeshall, giving a guard of honour to the
local parishioners as they arrived in the church. Standards where
presented along with those of the local Royal British Legion. Fr
Philip and the Bishop of Colchester Rt. Rev'd. Christopher Morgan
performed the services and thanked the young people for attending
and welcomed them to this important act of Remembrance.
All sections of the Coggeshall Scouts and Guides, go to Honywood
School for the starting of the new Scout Hut.
September: Members of Coggeshall Explorers take part in the county
marathon along with Braintree Explorers.
Cubs had a good weekend with a sleep over on HMS Belfast,
visiting London on a 2-day trip.
Explorers go green obtaining a Green Footprint away, and
start to embark on the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Along with
a interesting programme and the search for more leaders, 2009
was a year of transition working on getting exsisting
members skills turned into badges.
2008
Cubs attend MegaCamp 2008 and fun was had by all, 2nd
Camp this year. Both Cubs and Beavers take part in
Coggeshall Carnival (19th July) and take 1st and 2nd
in their own categories.
2007
Katrina Childs retires from Cubs in Coggeshall and receives presentations
in the HQ.
June: At the AGM Coggeshall Scout Group are awarded a certificate from
Essex Scouting for outstanding growth in membership.
July: Two further Scouts achieve Chief Scout Award; Henry Perrin and Lewis
Elmes. Twenty seven Scouts attend the summer camp in the Peak District.
September: Centenary of Scouting Service in Coggeshall Parish Church.
2006
April: Tommy Styles achieves Chief Scout Award. Karen and Steve Lawrence
train as Cub Leaders under Katrina Childs. Cub Camp at Prances. Scout
Camp is again held at Hallowtrees, Ipswich where most of the twenty four
Scouts sleep in bivouacs for the whole camp.
2005
March: Three Scouts achieve Chief Scout Award; Joe Kean, Tom Pickles
and Archie Pearmain. June: Bob Baker retires as Group Chairman and is
replaced by Tim Styles. Peter Lewis retires as Group Scout Leader and
is replaced by David Hewitt/Katrina Childs. Presentations made to both
Bob and Peter at the AGM. Cub Camp at Prances, Scout Camp at Hallowtrees,
Ipswich.
2004
April: Scout District St. Georges Day Parade held at St. Peter's
Church Coggeshall. Arrangements for the Parade made by the Coggeshall
Group. August: Scouts and Guides attended Essex Jamboree.
September: David Hepplewhite takes over the running of the Scout
Troop and Philip Rowell takes over the running of Explorer Scouts.
December: Scouts stage pantomime "Coggeshall Scouts and the Holy Grail".
2003
May: Quiz Night in HQ raised £250 for Scout and Guide funds.
June: Cub Camp at Prances with members of the Beaver Colony
visiting.
August: Scout Summer Camp at Thorrington. December: The first
combined Scout and Guide Carol Concert held at St. Peter's Church.
2002
January: 11 Scouts attended a Winter Camp at Gilwell Park.
New Venture Unit formed with 13 members split almost evenly
between male and female members.
June: At the AGM an explanation was given of the new forthcoming
Scout age ranges and new Sections names Explorer and Network
Scouts as well as new badge structure and variations in uniform.
Cub Camp at Prances on the theme of "Harry Potter".
August: Scout Summer Camp in the Peak District.
October: First Explorer Scout Unit in the District formed in
Coggeshall being the new name and age range for Venture Scouts.
2001
January: Second Burns Night Supper held - profit of £624.
Other HQ refurbishment fund-raising projects held during
the past year included two Dances £860, Quiz Night £310,
Christmas Post £276, Millennium Treasure Hunt £300.
May: Grant of £5,000 received from Essex Community Foundation
for new storage sheds, replacement fencing and resurfacing of
car park. August/September: Scout Summer Camp held at
Thorrington. October: Cheese and Wine Open Evening held at
HQ to show off the complete refurbishment inside and outside;
more than 60 people attended.
2000
January: Burns Night Supper held in H.Q. - 65 people
attended - £570 profit. May: District Millennium Camp
held at Panfield Hall. Cubs and Scouts camped and Beavers
visited on the Saturday. Because of torrential rain and
waterlogged campsite, camp abandoned on Sunday morning.
It was announced at the AGM that the roof of the HQ had
been declared sound after inspection by experts. To date
£8,000 had been raised by donations and fund-raising
towards the cost of refurbishment. August: Scouts Summer
Camp at Essex Jamboree - over 1,000 Scouts from 25 countries
took part.
