1999
March: Meeting of Parents, Leaders and Friends of
Scouting and Guiding to launch Millennium Appeal to
raise £10,000 to totally refurbish H.Q. and
surrounds including fences and car park. Donations
received and plan of action decided upon.
May: Bridgette Heath takes over as Leader of Beaver
Colony.
July: A programme of fund-raising events agreed to run
throughout 1999 and 2000 including Grand Draw, Treasure
Hunt, Quiz Night, Dances, Discos, Halloween Supper,
Car Boot Sales and a Burns Night Supper to form the basis
of a Millennium Fund to provide money for a refurbishment
of the Headquarters.
1998
April: New carpet and blinds fitted in H.Q. and thorough
appraisal of H.Q. and equipment made to see what further
improvements could be made.
October: Scouts take part in a Caving weekend and attend
Essex University climbing wall in Colchester.
1996
February: Scout Troop closed because of lack of Leaders.
A Patrol of Senior Cubs run by Katrina Childs until a
new Scout Leader found.
September: Katrina and Louise Collis continue to run small
Scout Troop.
August/September: Working parties held on Saturday mornings
to make H.Q. and surroundings look more attractive. Fund
raising throughout the year included Dances and a Fashion
Show run by Carolyn Hempstead; Quiz night and Scout and
Guide Christmas Post run by Jackie Wild.
November: David Hewitt takes over as Scout Leader assisted
by Michael Hewitt and Gary Lynes.
1995
March: Remaining Venture Scouts joined Braintree Three
Rivers Unit.
May: Scout Camp weekend at Bradwell Field Study and Sailing
Centre.
December: Christmas Post handled 2,562 Cards raising £230.
1994
The two Cub Packs unite with Katrina Childs as Leader.
Scouts came first in District Sports Day and held Summer
Camp at Abington in Cambridgeshire. Coggeshall Fellowship
(SAGA) closed as all members had moved away.
1993
Katrina Childsnow running Hawks Cub Pack - Venture Unit
Leader now Les Wild.
June: AGM held at Honywood School and incorporating a Parents
Open Evening. Fund raising events included Safari Supper,
Italian evening and Disco.
1992
March: Scout Troop closed for a few months because of lack
of Leaders.
September: Scout Troop re-opened with Mick Rayner as Leader
assisted by Anna Wright, James Gray and Mel Spraggon.
1991
Venture Unit renamed Cross Keys Unit lead by Mark Lock and
Juliet Ward. David Hewitt leads Essex and Norfolk contingent
to the World Scout Jamboree in Korea/Japan.
1990
Gas laid on to H.Q. and central heating installed.
SAGA Fellowship Unit formed as help to Leaders and
assistance with fund-raising.
December: David Hewitt takes over from Les Wild as
Scout Leader.
